Taubenbach is a district of the municipality of Reut in the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn .

location

The parish village of Taubenbach is located on the Lohbach in the Isar-Inn hill country about four kilometers southwest of Reut.

history

Taubenbach formed a chairman in the Julbach nursing court and, from 1811, a tax district. In 1821/22 Taubenbach was mentioned in a register of the Simbach regional court as a municipality directly under the regional court. In 1824 no less than 41 districts are listed.

Taubenbach was an independent municipality until the regional reform in Bavaria . On April 1, 1971, it was incorporated into the community of Reut.

Taubenbach was originally a church branch of Stammham , became a vicariate around 1500 and on September 23, 1897 a parish, which in 1989 had 653 members. Today's parsonage was built in the late Gothic period and was originally the seat of the local beneficiary .

Pilgrimage

The beginnings of the pilgrimage to St. Alban are not known. Written records of the pilgrimage are only available from 1570. A peculiarity of this pilgrimage was the sacrifice of clay vessels in the shape of a head with grain, so-called Albanian skulls , because St. Alban was revered as a headache helper. Many of the Albanian skulls used to be kept in the pilgrimage chapel. The catchment area of the pilgrimage extended to Passau. In the diocesan archive there is a Taubenbacher miracle book from 1766. In the 19th century the custom of grain sacrifice gradually expired.

Attractions

  • Parish Church of St. Alban . An earlier Albani church is mentioned as early as 1100. The current complex with church, rectory and chapel was built around 1473 after an entry on the west side of the choir was closed. The unknown master builder, who got his emergency name "Meister von Taubenbach" after his main work, built a large number of other church buildings in the area around Taubenbach. The slender, artistic church tower was completed around 1530, the steep pointed spire was renewed in 1667. The interior of the parish church of St. Alban is early baroque, the art-historically significant high altar from 1642 comes from the brothers Michael and Martin Zürn . In 1913 wall paintings from the 15th century were uncovered on the choir walls of the church. A covered walkway built in 1691 leads from the parish church to the pilgrimage chapel to the north, which was built towards the end of the 15th century. The small altar was created in 1626 by Hans Georg Weißenburger from Landshut .
