Baptismal font (Huriel)

Baptismal font in Huriel

The baptismal font in the Notre-Dame church in Huriel , a French parish in the Allier département of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , was probably created in the 12th century. The baptismal font of stone is as since 1985 Monument historique classified.

The round basin has a circumferential relief in the form of a snake on the upper edge, in which twelve human faces are worked, which have a disappointed appearance. The snake has opened its mouth and appears to be fighting off a dragon's flames.
