Baptismal font in La Baussaine

The baptismal font in the Catholic Church of St-Léon in La Baussaine , a French parish in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the Brittany region , was created in the 14th century. In 1911, the Gothic baptismal font was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique .

The granite baptismal font has two octagonal basins on pedestals, which are connected by a bas-relief of an angel. He holds the coat of arms of the landlords in his hands. The bases and the basins are richly decorated with reliefs.

One basin was used to store the water for baptism , the other was used for baptism .
