Baptismal font in Pleumeleuc

The baptismal font in the Catholic Church of St-Pierre in Pleumeleuc , a French parish in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the Brittany region , was created in the 15th century. In 1906 the Gothic baptismal font was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique .

The granite baptismal font has two octagonal basins made from a block of stone. Outside they are decorated with reliefs of oak and grape leaves. On the larger one, four heads are shown on the base. The covers are from a later period.

One basin was used to store the water for baptism , the other was used for baptism .
