Taylor Dakers (born September 14, 1986 in Langley , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper . Most recently he played for the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League .

Career

Dakers was initially selected by the Kootenay Ice in the 2001 WHL Bantam Draft . For the 2003/04 season he then moved to the team in the Western Hockey League . The Canadian played a mixed rookie season , but improved his statistics in the following season significantly and was selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 140th position by the San Jose Sharks . In the following two game years he stayed in Kootenay before he signed his first professional contract with the Sharks in June 2006 and was invited to the pre-season training camp. Dakers returned due to the great competition on the goalkeeper position, both in the NHL squad and in the AHL squad of the farm team Worcester Sharks , for another year to the Ice and showed strong performances.

After his team in the seventh game of the first playoff round in 2007 against the Calgary Hitmen was eliminated, it appealed the San Jose Sharks in their playoff roster to serve as the third goalkeeper for a violation of the goalkeeper Evgeni Nabokov and Vesa Toskala as up back- to stand and through training with the team to gain initial experience with the environment of the National Hockey League. After he took part in the San Joses training camp for the second time in the summer, he was then transferred to the farm team of the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League for further development support, where he was repeatedly deployed as a substitute behind Thomas Greiss or Dimitri Pätzold . By signing another goalkeeper for the NHL roster of the Sharks Dakers was sent to the second farm team Phoenix RoadRunners in the ECHL in March 2008 .
