Tazzelenghe (also Tacelenghe ) is a very old red wine variety that is grown in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia , especially in the DOC wines of the Colli Orientali del Friuli region . Tazzelenghe means "tongue cutter" in the Friulian dialect.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open and hairy with wool. The young leaves are moderately hairy and have a bronze tinge.
  • The leaves are five-lobed and strongly indented. The stem bay is open in a U-shape. The sheet is sawn. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties.
  • The cylindrical grape is small and medium-sized with loose berries. The rounded berries are medium-sized.

Tazzelenghe ripens around 40 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen very late. It is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ).
