Tchioma Bangou (also: Tchambangou , Tchémabangou , Tchiomo Bangou , Tchoma Bangou , Tchombangou , Tiam Bangou , Tioma Bangou , Tiombango ) is a village in the rural community of Tondikiwindi in Niger .

geography

The village, run by a traditional chief (chef traditionnel) , is located around 47 kilometers northwest of the main town of Tondikiwindi in the rural community of the same name, which belongs to the Ouallam department in the Tillabéri region. The state border with Mali is about 53 kilometers north of Tchioma Bangou. The larger villages around Tchioma Bangou include Zaroumbey Darey in the northwest and Tondi Koirey in the southeast.

An Islamist attack on the neighboring villages of Tchioma Bangou and Zaroumbey Darey on January 2, 2021 killed at least 100 civilians. Around 49 people were killed in Tchioma Bangou and another 17 injured. The attack occurred a few days after the parliamentary elections and the first round of the presidential elections in Niger.

population

At the 2012 census, Tchioma Bangou had 1,236 inhabitants who lived in 135 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 1,265 in 131 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 803 in 96 households.

With a Center de Santé Intégré (CSI) there is a health center in the village.
