Teaonui Tehau (born September 1, 1992 in Faa'a , Tahiti ) is a Tahitian football player who plays on the position of the striker . He has also been active in beach soccer since 2019 .

Career

Club career

Teaonui Tehau began his professional career in 2009 as a footballer with the Tahitian first division club AS Vénus . In April 2013, Tehau first moved to AS Dragon on loan for two months , only to be permanently signed by AS Dragon just one month after his return. After Tehau's contract expired in July 2014, he moved to AS Pirae within the first division . After two years he returned to AS Vénus, where he was Tahiti Ligue 1's top scorer in 2018 and 2019 .

National team

Tehau made his international debut for the Tahitian U-20 team in 2009 as part of the U-20 World Cup in Egypt in the game against Spain , which Tahiti lost 8-0. Then the team retired after two more defeats at the end of the preliminary round with 0:21 goals.

Tehau has been playing for the Tahitian national team since 2011 . His first international games included the game against Spain in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil , which was lost 0:10. He also played in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, scoring two goals in eleven games. At the Oceania Soccer Championship in Papua New Guinea in 2016 , he scored the most goals for his team with four goals.

On November 13, 2016 against the Solomon Islands, he led his team onto the field as team captain for the first time, and has been permanently in this role since July 2019. With 24 goals he is also the record scorer in his country.

Beach soccer

In 2019 Tehau took part in the Beach Soccer Oceania Championship and won the title there with the Tahitian team. He scores three hits. This is the fourth time that Tahiti has qualified for the Beach Soccer World Championship .

Tehau is the cousin of Jonathan Tehau and the twins Alvin and Lorenzo Tehau , who also play for the Tahitian national team.
