' teatro' is an independent theater group based in Vienna and Lower Austria .

history

Founded in 1999 as a small cultural initiative on a farm in southern Lower Austria, teatro today presents its productions on stages in Vienna and Lower Austria. The composition of the ensemble is characteristic of teatro: up to 40 children, young people, adult amateurs and professional actors and singers bring the musicals together on stage.

In addition to a major premiere in summer, for which a musical is composed and staged every year based on material from fairy tales or children's literature, teatro organizes musical workshops four times a year in Schönau an der Triesting and forms the two year-round musical courses mat (musical academy teatro) and mab (musical academy brigittenau) with annual public final performances children and young people in the fields of drama, dance and singing.

Teatro also works with people with special needs and regularly realizes theater productions in cooperation with schools.

Already in 2003 the group received the ideas prize of the Lower Austrian village and urban renewal in the category of youth for youth .
