use

Tebupirimfos is used as an insecticide . The toxic effect is based on the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase . It was first approved in the USA in 1984, where tebupirimfos is used as a pesticide in maize cultivation. Annual consumption in the United States around 2000 was put at about 270,000 pounds (≈123 tons ). It is often used in combination with cyfluthrin .

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, no pesticides with this active ingredient are permitted.
