The Tecchler Trio was a piano trio from Switzerland . It existed from 2003 to 2011 and had the musicians Esther Hoppe ( violin ), Maximilian Hornung ( violoncello ) and Benjamin Engeli ( piano ) as members.

Surname

The name of the trio refers to David Tecchler (1666–1748), a violin maker who was born in Lechbruck near Füssen and who settled in Rome . The cellist Maximilian Hornung plays a cello Tecchlers from 1705.

history

In 2003 Esther Hoppe, Benjamin Engeli and Maximilian Hornung founded the piano trio. In 2005 they won the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes, which is awarded every two years to promote musical talent in Switzerland. In 2007 they won first place in the piano trio category at the ARD International Music Competition . In 2011, the trio separated amicably because the three musicians wanted to pursue their own musical projects.
