The Staatliche Technikerschule Berlin (STB) is a professional training facility for people who have completed their professional training. Successful completion of the training entitles you to use the professional title of state-certified technician .

history

On October 29, 1963, the State Technician Day School was founded by the Berlin Senate in the building of the former State Engineering Academy Gauß in Bochumer Strasse 8b in Berlin-Moabit . The building was erected in 1908 as a new building for the Friedrichswerder high school .

The first subjects were mechanical engineering (focus: construction and production, precision engineering), electrical engineering (focus: power engineering, communications technology, measurement and control technology). In 1971 the Staatliche Technikerschule Berlin was founded with part-time or evening study alongside work and additional courses in civil engineering, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology; The data processing technology course followed in the mid-1970s. In 1975, the duration of the day course was extended from 3 to 4 semesters and the evening course to 8 semesters. In 1988 modernization measures took place and the school building was expanded under the direction of the architect Helge Pitz.

In 1991 there was a merger with the Engineering School for Chemistry (GDR) in Naglerstrasse, Berlin. This resulted in the field of environmental protection technology (focus: laboratory technology and process engineering). In 1997 the environmental protection technology department moved to Bochumer Straße. Since 1995, after the establishment of the Berlin State School Office, the technical school from the central administration has been assigned to the school supervision of the vocational schools by the Senate administration. In 2003 the biotechnology department was re-established and the microsystem technology department in 2005.
