Ted Leo and the Pharmacists is an indie rock band from New Jersey (founded in Washington DC ), USA .

history

After Ted Leo's previous band, Chisel , split up in the late 1990s, he recorded the album Tej Leo (?), Rx / Pharmacists in 1999, followed by Treble in Trouble in 2000 . In 2001, Ted became Leo from Lookout! Records signed. His next album, The Tyranny of Distance , which was released there, quickly secured a loyal fan base and praise from critics. Dave Lerner, Chris Wilson and keyboardist Dorien Garry became permanent members of the band during the tour this year. Two years later, the Hearts of Oak album followed, the release of the concert DVD Dirty Old Town and the Tell-Balgeary, -Balgury-Is-Dead - EP . Keyboardist Garry left the band before recording the album Shake the Sheets , which was released in October 2004. This album emphasized political statements more than before. Leo is liberal and a strict vegan .

In 2007 the band released their next album Living with the Living on Touch and Go Records and toured Germany. The album The Brutalist Bricks followed in 2010 and was released by Matador Records .
