Tele Atlas was a Dutch company based in 's-Hertogenbosch that produced digital maps for geographic information systems (GIS), location- based services (LBS) and for navigation systems. In 2011 Tele Atlas was merged with TomTom .

Tele Atlas had offices and subsidiaries around the world. The German branch and at the same time the headquarters of Tele Atlas Deutschland GmbH is located in Harsum, Lower Saxony . The company has been traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with listing in the TecDAX (TA6) and on the Euronext (TA) in Amsterdam since 2000 .

history
After TomTom announced on July 23, 2007 that it would take over Tele Atlas for just under two billion euros , Garmin announced an offer of around 2.3 billion euros on October 31, 2007. Ultimately, TomTom made the highest bid and was able to announce the takeover of Tele Atlas for 2.9 billion euros on November 16, 2007. On May 14, 2008, the takeover was approved by the EU Commission.
