The Telekom skyscraper is a 23-story office building in Dortmund . It was designed by HPP Hentrich-Petschnigg & Partner for the approximately 900 employees of the Dortmund Oberpostdirektion and completed in 1981. The high-rise is located south of the city center on the Rheinlanddamm adjacent to the Westfalenpark . Until 2006, it was the tallest building in the city with a height of 88 meters after the Florian Tower right next door .

The cross-shaped high-rise floor plan with its core rotated by 45 ° in relation to the wings rises above two octagonal, three-storey low-rise buildings with inner courtyards. There are underground car parks for 138 cars in the two basement floors. While the low-rise buildings are clad with reinforced concrete elements, the high-rise building has a rear-ventilated all-glass facade with windows made of reflective glass for protection against the sun. The extensive air conditioning systems are already equipped with a heat recovery system. The low-rise buildings are founded on bored piles up to 1.30 m thick in the marl layers; the high-rise stands on a 3.40 m thick foundation slab made of reinforced concrete. The 22 cm thick ceiling panes are rigidly connected to the core of the skyscraper in order to carry the wind loads; the remaining high-rise pillars are pendulum pillars made of precast reinforced concrete.

In the entrance area there is an octagonal water basin with a fountain sculpture by Lee Babel . There are also three bronze sculptures up to 2.35 m high by the sculptor Michael Schwarze in one of the inner courtyards .

After the Oberpostdirektion was dissolved in 1989 and the property was sold, the building was largely empty for a long time. The headquarters of the distribution network operator Westnetz has been located there since the beginning of 2013 .
