Telluric acid is an inorganic chemical compound of tellurium .

Extraction and presentation

Telluric acid can be obtained by reacting a potassium tellurite solution with dilute nitric acid.

It is also possible to display it by reacting tellurium dichloride or tellurium tetrachloride with water.

Telluric acid is a white, amorphous solid with a somewhat changing composition, the water content of which is often below the formula H 2 TeO 3 . It loses water when dry, but can be kept unchanged under water for several days. When heated, water is largely split off above room temperature and converted to tellurium dioxide . The compound is weakly amphoteric and reacts with bases (to tellurites ) and strong acids.
