CA Timișoara was a Romanian football club from Timișoara . He never played in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , but twice reached the round of 16 for the Romanian Cup .

history

CA Timișoara (CAT) was founded in 1902 under the name FC Temesvár , since the city of Timișoara was part of Austria-Hungary at that time as Temesvár . After the Second World War he played under the name CA Timișoara in Romania. During the 1920s he could not prevail against the local competition from Chinezul Timișoara and qualify for the final round of the Romanian football championship. When Divizia A was founded in 1932 , CAT was not involved. Nationwide, the club first drew attention to itself in the Romanian Cup in 1933/34 , when it prevailed 9-0 against Sportul Studențesc and made it to the second round. There he was eliminated from the later finalists Universitatea Cluj . A year later this success was repeated.

With the establishment of Divizia B in 1934, CAT took part in national league operations. Both in the 1934/35 season and in the following season , the club placed at the bottom of the table. In 1936 the club merged with local rivals RGM Timișoara to CAM Timișoara and thus dissolved.
