Tempelstrasse 1/3 (Bonn)
The Tempelstrasse 1/3 building (also Finkler double villa ) is a double villa in the Gronau district of Bonn , which was built in 1899/1900. It is located on the Tempelstrasse branching off from Adenauerallee ( B 9 ). Today the villa belongs to the Foreign Office .
history
The villa was built for the client, Professor Dittmar Finkler, based on a design by the prominent Berlin architecture firm Kayser & von Großheim , whose local representative was the architect Heinrich Rings, on the former, parceled plot of the Villa König . Following the building application from March 1899, the building permit was granted in May . The shell - decrease in October 1899, the final acceptance in September 1900. The two half villas were sold individually by Finkler. In 1904 the owner of the western half-villa (A. Dilthey from Rheydt ) had a winter garden built at the back of his house . In 1935 this half-villa became the property of the Reich Air Protection Association , which housed an office there.
In 1950 the French-German Club took over the western half-villa, which had renovations carried out that year. While apartments were set up on the two upper floors, larger rooms were created for the club on the lower floors through wall openings. The Institut Français had owned the villa by 1954 and had the ground floor built over in the area of the terrace . In 1978 the villa had been the property of the Federal Republic of Germany for several years, and since then it has been part of the property of the Federal Foreign Office .
