Ten of the Best is a trumpet ensemble founded in 1991 by Otto Sauter . Ten trumpeters play together, for example the first trumpeter of the Vienna State Opera , the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Prague , the Royal Opera in Stockholm , the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and international trumpet soloists from classical and jazz from Europe and the USA .

The original line-up of the ensemble was 10 trumpets plus piano, bass and drums. Later the ensemble also played with vocals, guitar, percussion, keyboard and strings as "Ten of the Best & Friends", among others with Sting guitarist Dominic Miller , Marius Müller-Westernhagen guitarist Markus Wienstroer , James Last percussionist Pablo Escayola, Level 42 Keyboardist Mike Lindup .

The ensemble's titles are arranged, among others, by Grammy Award winners who work in Hollywood with greats like Barbra Streisand , Frank Sinatra , Neil Diamond , The Commodores and Prince , or in Germany with greats like Peter Herbolzheimer or Udo Jürgens and his Pepe Lienhard Band.

In August 2001 the ensemble played for the opening of the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen (broadcast by SAT.1 and DSF). In 2006 it played on the "Playtime Live City Concert Tour", the Germany-wide music festival as part of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, supported by the 2006 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee under the patronage of Dr. Theo Zwanziger .
