Teodor Axentowicz ( Armenian Թեոդոր Աքսենտովիչ ), born May 13, 1859 in Kronstadt , Transylvania , Austrian Empire ; †  August 26, 1938 in Krakow , was a Polish painter, draftsman and graphic artist of Armenian origin.

Life

From 1879 to 1882 Axentowicz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and then from 1882 to 1895 with Emile Auguste Carolus-Duran in Paris . In 1894 he worked with Wojciech Kossak and Jan Styka on the implementation of the Racławice Panorama . Axentowicz went to Cracow in 1895 and became a professor at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and from 1910 its rector until 1934.
