Terdschola ( Georgian თერჯოლა ) is a town in the central part of Georgia , in the region Imeretien . It is the administrative seat of the Terdschola municipality named after it .

location

Terdschola is located in the Imeretian lowlands on the Tschchari , a right tributary of the Qwirila . The small town is located a few kilometers north of the S1 international trunk road , which has been converted into a motorway , about 190 km northwest of Tbilisi and 14 km northwest of Sestaponi . The city has 4,644 inhabitants (2014).

history

Terdschola was first mentioned as a village in the 17th century. In 1950 the administrative seat of the Chchari Rajon, formed in 1930, was moved to there and the Rajon was renamed accordingly. In 1969 the place received urban-type settlement status and in 1983 city rights.
