Teresa Bell

Teresa Bell (born Teresa Zarzeczny on 28. August 1966 in Washington Crossing , Pennsylvania ) is a former lightweight - rower from the United States , which in 1996 won an Olympic silver medal.

Career

At the 1991 World Championships in Vienna, Lindsay Burns and Teresa Zarzeczny won the silver medal in the lightweight double scull behind the German boat. In 1992 in Montreal, the Germans won ahead of the Canadians, behind them Sanya Remmler-Suddeth and Teresa Zarzeczny won the bronze medal. At the World Championships in 1993 in Račice u Štětí Zarzeczny went to the lightweight one and took fourth place. In 1994 in Indianapolis Burns and Zarzeczny rowed again in the lightweight double scull, behind the Canadians and the Chinese they received the bronze medal. In 1995 Burns and Zarzeczny finished seventh at the World Championships in Tampere .

In 1996 the Olympic premiere of lightweight rowing took place. After their marriage, Teresa Bell competed with Lindsay Burns at the Olympic Regatta in Atlanta and won both her preliminary and her semifinals. In the final, the Romanians Constanța Burcică and Camelia Macoviciuc won with almost two seconds ahead of the two Americans. In 1997 Bell finished fifth again in the lightweight double scull at the World Championships .
