The Orla ( German Horle , Hurle or Horla ) is a river in western Poland. It is the largest right tributary of the Barycz (Bartsch) with a length of 95.1 km and a catchment area of 1601 km². The Orla flows into the southern lowlands of Greater Poland and into the Obniżenie Milicko-Głogowskie (Militisch-Glogauer-Niederung) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship .

Hydrology

The river rises in the village of Koźminiec in the Wysoczyzna Kaliska from a spring 155 m above sea level, then flows through the Żmigrodzka valley (Trachenberg basin) and empties 34.6 km west of Wąsosz (Herrnstadt) at an altitude of 83 m the sea level in the Barycz .

The catchment area of ​​the Orla lies on the border of the Greater Poland and Lower Silesia voivodeships . It is an agricultural area where arable land predominates with a small number of forests and wooded areas.

The main tributaries of the Orla are:

  • left: Czarna Woda, Żydowski Potok, Borownica, Orla Leniwa, Wilczyna;
  • right: Radyca (Rździeca), Szpatnica (Stara Orla), Dąbroczna (Dąbrocznia), Masłówka.

Important cities along the Orla are Koźmin Wielkopolski , Jutrosin , Korzeńsko and Wąsosz .
