Terlingua is the eighth studio album by the German rock band Mono Inc. It was released on May 22, 2015 via SPV .

Emergence

After Mono Inc. played a concert in Austin, Texas in March 2014 , the band decided to take a five-day vacation and rented a ranch 25 kilometers from Terlingua . A subsequent studio session in Terlingua in autumn of the same year resulted from the experiences. After five weeks and over 20 new titles, the mastering in the Gaga Studios in Hamburg followed .

Singer Martin Engler then described Terlingua as the "most mature album [...] so far and, in sum, probably also the rockiest". The song Tag X was distributed in advance in a fan campaign via WhatsApp .

reception

Terlingua has received controversial coverage in relevant music magazines. On the one hand, the new, softer sounds and the sometimes subtle texts were received positively, on the other hand the composition, trivial texts and the break with the previous musical style were criticized.

“With“ Terlingua ”Mono Inc. has truly achieved anything but a milestone. Without question, there are many good approaches and a few good songs on the album. Overall, however, it remains a big step, both towards mass suitability and towards absolute irrelevance. "

- Ludwig Stadler : Tombstone Webzine

"Draft? Nothing. Terlingua is a mass-compatible uniform pulp under the brand "Mono Inc." that will ultimately sell well. And unfortunately it seems as if it just depends. "

- Matthias Irrgang : Mindbreed Magazine

“All in all, the new longplayer shows a new side to the group of four: deep, gentle, and yet with both feet in the middle of life. An album without major musical breakthroughs, but to lay in the sun and enjoy. "

- Leonie Maurer : Rock Fanatics

Ulf Kubanke from laut.de praised the partly successful arrangements as in 118 or It never rains and the re-inclusion of English-language songs in the tracklist after Nevermore , but criticized the irrelevant lyrics ( Mondschein , Heiland ) and stated that Martin Englers “ vocally overwhelming [...] the emotional song " Ghost Town Gates " completely razed to the ground. Likewise, the "constant self-labeling of Mono Inc. as Gothic Rock [...] over long stretches of great imposture."
