River course
The mountain river has its source in the transition area between the South Yukon Plateau Ranges and the Stikine Plateau . Its springs are located in British Columbia around a mountain lake that is fed by various streams. The water flows through this lake, leaves it in the north and reaches Teslin Lake , which is further north , which it feeds at about the southeast end and flows through in a southeast-northwest direction. In this lake it crosses the border with the Yukon Territory , after which the Nisutlin River, coming from the eastern arm of the lake, flows into it. The Teslin River is 59 km long to its confluence with Teslin Lake.
The Teslin River leaves this 144 km long lake at its northern end and flows further north through a high mountain valley to its confluence with the Yukon River at the village of Hootalinqua (Indian "confluence of two large rivers"). He covered around 190 km from the lake to its mouth in the Yukon.
The catchment area of the Teslin River covers 35,500 km².
