Teucrium brevifolium also Kurzblättriger Gamander called, is a plant type from the genus germander ( Teucrium ) in the family of Labiatae (Lamiaceae).

description

Teucrium brevifolium is similar to Teucrium fruticans , but only grows up to 60 cm high. It is an evergreen shrub with finely hairy branches that are green or brown in color. The leaves are oblong or linear and curled downwards. Both leaf surfaces are hairy gray-tomentose.

The inflorescence consists of pseudo whorls with two flowers that sit in the axilla of deciduous bracts . The chalice is bell-shaped, has a straight tube and is not humped at the base. The crown is about 10 mm long. The stamens protrude far beyond the crown.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.

Occurrence and locations

The species is widespread in the southern Aegean , it occurs in Crete , Greece , the Aegean, Turkey, Morocco, Libya and Egypt. It grows in dry, rocky locations near the sea.
