Squidward Huber

Thaddäus Huber (born May 8, 1742 in Niederhollabrunn , † February 27, 1798 in Vienna ) was an Austrian violinist and composer .

Life

Thaddäus Huber received his training from his father and from the local school teacher. He was a choir boy in Klosterneuburg Abbey , followed by his musical and philosophical training at the Jesuit seminar in Vienna, where he participated in the choir boys in the court orchestra. He joined the Viktring Abbey in Carinthia, where he took over church music; However, he was sent back to Vienna for health reasons and then renounced the clergy.

In 1771 Huber was one of the founding members of the Tonkünstler Society, for which he also worked as a secretary for several years. He was a violinist in the orchestra of the National Theater, and in the 1770s and 1780s also violinist at the Schottenkirche in Vienna. In 1789 he was accepted into the court orchestra (1st violist). His string quartets were played in the afternoon chamber music of Joseph II , and Joseph Haydn also appreciated his compositions.
