Thaddeus Joseph Jakubowski
Thaddeus Joseph Jakubowski , usual: Thad J. Jakubowski (born April 5, 1924 in Chicago ; † July 14, 2013 ibid), was auxiliary bishop in Chicago .
Life
Thad J. Jakubowski first attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School and St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School in Chicago and then entered the Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary . He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake (Mundelein Seminary). He studied classical science at Loyola University Chicago .
The Archbishop of Chicago, Samuel Alphonsius Cardinal Stritch , ordained him on May 3, 1950 . He served in the pastoral ministry of the Archdiocese of Chicago and taught classical languages at Quigley Preparatory Seminary . He was Dean of Vicariate IV (1977–1982; 1984–1988).
Pope . John Paul II appointed him on 16 February 1988. Titular Bishop of Plestia and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Chicago and Vicar General of the Vicariate IV The archbishop of Chicago. Joseph Louis Bernardin Cardinal consecrated him on April 11 of the same year Bishop ; Co-consecrators were Alfred Leo Abramowicz , auxiliary bishop in Chicago, and Nevin William Hayes OCarm , auxiliary bishop in Chicago.
He was particularly committed to helping residents of Chicago with a Polish background. On January 24, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
