Thale - A Dark Secret is a Norwegian horror film from 2012 by director Aleksander Nordaas , who not only directed but also took over camera work and editing.
action
The two friends Leo and Elvis work as crime scene cleaners . Therefore, they are sent to a remote forest hut to be cleaned after the owner's death. In the process, they discover hidden cellars full of mysterious gadgets, cans and obscure records. While in hiding, they are attacked by a naked woman. After a while, despite her shyness, she begins to build tentative trust in the two of them. Leo also provides them with fresh water and bread rolls. The owner's records and documents show that she is called "Thale" and has apparently lived in this cellar for decades. Some of her memories are transferred to Elvis through a touch.
The owner of the house apparently freed her and then locked her up in the basement as a child, primarily to protect her from other people and their fellows. Only once did she manage to temporarily leave the hut, and creatures immediately watched her unnoticed. She had a tail, but it was removed from her and, to Elvis' horror, is now in a refrigerator in the basement. The inexperienced Elvis and Leo wait for the police to arrive until an unspecified special unit gains access to the building.
The two protagonists find themselves tied to chairs in the forest. The threatening leader of the unit tries to get information about Thale from Elvis. He warns him that behind the enchanting facade it is a "monster", a Huldra . Thale in turn manages to hide in the basement again. Little by little she kills the masked and armed men of the unit in the building. Before the leader can shoot Elvis and Leo, the house explosion distracts him. Immediately he sees himself surrounded by several wild huldras that live in the surrounding forests and is killed by them. The two friends remain unmolested by these.
Thale then frees the two protagonists. Elvis and Leo give their testimony to the police, who don't seem particularly convinced of what happened, on record. Leo and Elvis meet again. Thale's touch apparently cured Leo's cancer. In the last shot you see Thale resting on a hill while wild huldras roam the woods. Thale gained her freedom and joins them.
