Thang Luu (* 1974 or 1975 in Vietnam ) is a professional Vietnamese poker player . He is nicknamed Tiger Luu and two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Luu was born in Vietnam and came to the United States at the age of 17 . Before starting his poker career, he worked as a croupier in Las Vegas , where he still lives today.

Poker career

Career

Luu has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2005 . His favorite form of poker is Badugi .

Luu first won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in June 2005 . Through his profession as a croupier, he was eligible to participate in the Casino Employees Championship and took third place for around 25,000 US dollars in prize money. After finishing second in 2007 , he won a tournament in Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better at the 2008 WSOP , securing his first bracelet and almost $ 250,000 in prize money. A year later he repeated this success and won the event again, for which he received his second bracelet . Luu received his last live cash placements in June 2013.

Overall, Luu has earned around $ 750,000 in poker in live tournaments.
