The 42nd Dansk Melodi Grand Prix took place on January 21, 2012 in the Gigantium in Aalborg and was the Danish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku ( Azerbaijan ). It was the third time, after 2006 and 2010, that Aalborg hosted the Danish preliminary round.
format
One day after the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 on May 14, 2011, the DR announced its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku , Azerbaijan . Potential candidates submitted 678 entries by September 26, 2011.
As in previous years, ten artists and songs were announced on January 5, 2012. However, one of the finalists, Valen: tine with "Nowhere" had to be disqualified because the title was published prior to approval by the European Broadcasting Union, which meant a rule violation. There was no replacement for it, so only nine competitors entered the competition.
In the first round, the audience and a professional Danish jury selected the three best songs. The winner was then selected from among these by the audience, the Danish and an international jury (with jurors from Azerbaijan , Germany, Norway and Russia). In both rounds, 50% of the audience votes and the jury's verdict were included in the evaluation.
The composition of the international juries was published by DR on January 14, 2012.
