The 44th Dansk Melodi Grand Prix took place on March 8, 2014 in Odense and was the Danish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen , Denmark . It was the first time the competition was held in Odense.

As in previous years, there were two rounds, in the first round three titles were selected by a professional jury and audience voting, which were re-evaluated in a second round using the same method. The professional jury consisted of the following people:

  • Jørgen de Mylius, journalist; Danish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 23 times
  • Camille Jones , singer, songwriter and producer
  • Søs Fenger, singer and songwriter
  • Lars Pedersen, better known as Chief1; DJ and music producer
  • Me Hedin Hansen, better known as Cutfather; Songwriter and music producer

Choice of contribution

In the period from August 20, 2013 to October 7, 2013, 872 entries were submitted, which was 180 titles higher than in the previous year and a new record. Once again, a jury selected six titles from all the entries, while the four participants SONNY, Nadia Malm, Anna David and Michael Rune took part in the competition at the invitation of Danmarks Radio for "editorial reasons" . The performers were introduced on January 28, 2014.

The event took place on March 8, 2014 at the Arena Fyn in Odense , which had a capacity of 5,000. The show was hosted by Louise Wolff and Jacob Riising. In addition to the appearance of the winner at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 , the composers of the winning title received a price of 100,000 Danish crowns from the Danish Society for Lyricists, Composers and Music Producers KODA .

In the super final, the title Cliché Love Song, performed by Basim, received the most points from all jurors and most of the viewers voted for this song. In addition to this special feature, there were two second places, as the other two titles were tied.
