The 49th Dansk Melodi Grand Prix took place on February 23, 2019 in Jyske Bank Kasten in Herning and was the Danish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv ( Israel ). It was the fifth time that Herning had made the preliminary round. The show was moderated by Johannes Nymark and Kristian Gintberg.

format

concept

On August 10, 2018, DR confirmed Denmark's participation in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest .

The mode of the last few years is retained. Ten participants are selected by a group of Eurovision experts and then compete against each other in a final. As in the previous year, there will be two voting rounds. In the first round, SMS voting and a professional jury selected three songs for the super final. In the second round too, the audience and the jury each determined 50% of the placements. There it will then be decided who will represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

Choice of contribution

The window for submitting contributions opened on August 22, 2018 and closed again on September 26, 2018. How many contributions DR received was not disclosed.

The performers were officially introduced on January 31, 2019.
