On August 27, 2009, DR announced details for the 2010 preliminary round. Ten titles took part in the event on February 6th at the Gigantium in Aalborg . Six titles were selected from the submitted contributions by an internal jury. They were supplemented by four participants who were invited by the organizer. 562 songwriters submitted their entries by October 5th. Among them was a piece by DQ , which already represented Denmark at the ESC in 2007, but was unable to qualify for the final there. The radio station announced the ten participants on January 12, 2010. There were seven pieces from those submitted and the three wildcards Bryan Rice , Kaya Brüel and the girl band Sukkerchok .

Felix Smith and Julie Berthelsen hosted the show ; they were supported by Jørgen de Mylius and Keld Heick , who were closer to the competitors and who led behind the scenes of the Eurovision Song Contest .

On January 13th, Jan Lagermand Lundme announced that Zindy Laursen had received an invitation to the competition to perform her self-written title "All About Me" . However, she withdrew within the last 24 hours before the presentation of the participants and the submissions became MariaMatilde Band ’s song "Panik!" selected as a replacement.
