The 45th Dansk Melodi Grand Prix took place on February 7th, 2015 in the Gigantium in Aalborg and was the Danish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna ( Austria ). The show was moderated by Esben Bjerre Hansen and Jacob Riising. The 3-star logo used since 2009 has been replaced by a circle from which sound waves emanate. The slogan for this year was Drømmen lever (Eng .: “ The dream is alive ”).

format

The mode with a mixture of audience voting via SMS and jury evaluation was retained, but the individual judges were replaced by regional juries. Each of the juries awarded 1 to 8, 10 and 12, i.e. 56 points each and a total of 290 points. The distribution of votes through the voting was divided into a percentage of the same number of points (e.g. 50% of all votes would correspond to 145 points). The juries represented the five Danish regions and accordingly stayed at the following locations: Pumpehuset ( Copenhagen ) in the Hovedstaden region , Glød nightclub ( Næstved ) in Sjælland , Hotel Torvehallerne ( Vejle ) in the Syddanmark region , Gbar club ( Aarhus ) in the Region Midtjylland and in Gigantium ( Aalborg ) in Region Nordjylland . Each jury consisted of three members, led by a previous Danish participant in the Eurovision Song Contest .

In July 2014, DR announced that they were aiming for a “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2.0” with the changes and that they would focus on quality instead of quantity. DR's entertainment director, Jan Lagermand Lundme, said “We want real songs […] that have a story to tell, and that are real. The songs that touch the viewers ”. He named ESC 2014 winner Rise Like a Phoenix by Conchita Wurst and the second-placed Dutch contribution Calm After the Storm by The Common Linnets as examples .

In the specified period from July 4 to September 8, 2014, 687 contributions by singers and composers were submitted. A selection committee selected seven songs from the submissions, while three artists (Sara Sukurani, Marcel & “Soulman Group” and “World of Girls”) were invited to participate. The list of participating artists and songs was officially announced by DR on January 26, 2015, but had been made public two days earlier due to an early delivery of pre-ordered CDs. After the public presentation, the tracks were published in full on YouTube and the official album was available on the largest Danish streaming service.
