The 43rd Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013 took place on January 26, 2013 in Herning and was the Danish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö , Sweden . It was the second time that Herning made the preliminary round. The program was moderated by Louise Wolff, Lise Rønne and Sofie Lassen-Kahlke .

format

concept

Two days after the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , on May 28, 2012, DR confirmed Denmark's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 .

The mode of previous years was retained. Six of the ten participants were selected from submitted contributions and four contributions were made directly through invitations from DR. Jan Lagermand Lundme, head of entertainment at DR, emphasized that emphasis was placed on a catchy refrain for the songs. As in the previous year, there were two voting rounds. In the first round, SMS voting and a professional jury selected three songs for the super final. In the second round too, the audience and the jury each determined 50% of the placements. Each of the five jury members awarded 3, 2 and one point, so that 30 jury points were available. The SMS viewer vote was also converted into 30 points.

The jury members were announced on January 14, 2013 as follows:

  • Jørgen de Mylius - journalist; 23-time commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest
  • Lis Sørensen - singer
  • Maria Lucia Heiberg Rosenberg - music actress and singer
  • Me Hedin Hansen, better known as "Cutfather" - songwriter and music producer
  • Thomas Kato Vittrup, known by his mononym "Kato" - DJ and music producer

Choice of contribution

At the end of the last date on September 24th, 692 songs had been submitted - the highest number since 1988.

The ten titles of the contestants were announced on January 16, 2013.

final

The event was held on January 26, 2013 in Jyske Bank Kasten in Herning , which had a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The show was presented by Lise Rønne, Louise Wolff and Sofie Lassen-Kahlke.

Last year's winner Soluna Samay , the ESC winner from 1980 and 1987 Johnny Logan , the ESC winner from 1976 Brotherhood of Man and 1984 Herreys appeared on the show.

After the first round, Simone, Emmelie de Forest and Mohamed Ali were among the finalists for the superfinal . Emmelie de Forest won the final comparison mainly because of the high audience rating with 50% of all votes.
