The Bottle Rockets are an American country rock band. It was founded in 1992 by Brian Henneman, Tom Parr, Tom Ray and Mark Ortmann.

The band currently consists of Brian Henneman and Mark Ortmann, John Horton and Keith Voegele.

Beginnings

The Bottle Rockets' debut album of the same name was released in 1993.

The second album "The Brooklyn Side" was released in 1994. It was produced by Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel. The most famous pieces include the acoustic "Welfare Music" and "1000 Dollar Car". The track "Radar Gun" was released as a single and reached number 27 on the "Mainstream Rock Tracks" charts of Billboard Magazine in 1995 . The band went on tour with the album, including appearing on Conan O'Brien's Late Night Show on US national television.

In 1996, Atlantic Records signed the band. The third album "24 Hours A Day" was released in 1997 by Atlantic. Since the label made almost no advertising for the record, the great success did not materialize. The album was again produced by Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel.

After "Atlantic Records" terminated their contract with the Bottle Rockets, the eight-track EP "Leftovers" was released on the label "Doolittle Records" in 1998, with songs such as "Get Down River" and "If Walls Could Talk" as well as unreleased Material from the "Atlantic Sessions". Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel was the producer again, who also supported the band on guitar.

Since Tom Ray left the band at the end of 1997, the next album "Brand New Year" (1999) with the new bassist Robert Kearns (ex-Cry Of Love), b. recorded on April 24, 1965. The CD, again produced by Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel, was released in Germany by " Blue Rose Records".

2000 until today

In 2001 the Bottle Rockets signed a record deal with the alternative country label "Bloodshot Records". As their first album for the new label, the band recorded the work "Songs Of Sahm" (2002), which the Bottle Rockets saw as an homage to the singer / songwriter Doug Sahm ( Sir Douglas Quintet ), who died in 1999 . The CD contained 13 more or less well-known songs, all of which were written by Doug Sahm.

In the summer of 2003 it was announced that Tom Parr had left the band. In a trio line-up - Henneman, Ortmann and Kearns - the Bottle Rockets recorded their 7th studio album Blue Sky, which was released by Warren Haynes (g) ( Allman Brothers Band , Gov't Mule) together with Michael Barbiero ( John Lennon , Metallica ) was produced at Water Music Studios in Hoboken , New Jersey and released by Sanctuary Records in November 2003. The Bottle Rockets received musical support in the studio from Mark Spencer (g / Blood Oranges, Jay Farrar) and Danny Louis (key / Gov't Mule). Scott Taylor also took part in the songwriting.

In March 2005 bassist Kearns left the band and was replaced by Keith Voegele and John Horton (g) joined the band.

With the "Live In Heilbronn / Germany July 17, 2005" (released 2006) produced in Germany, the Bottle Rockets presented their first live album. It contains 28 tracks (plus 2 videos) with the most famous titles of the band. It was recorded on Henneman's 44th birthday in the Böckingen community center in the Böckingen district of Heilbronn .
