The Crazy Ones is an American sitcom starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar as father and daughter. The series was produced by David E. Kelley Productions based on an idea by David E. Kelley and was released on CBS from September 26, 2013 to April 17, 2014 in a block with The Big Bang Theory , The Millers and Two and a Half Men broadcast.

Advertising manager Simon Roberts runs his own advertising agency with his daughter Sydney. Her clientele includes many international greats. However, Sydney says she spends more time taking care of her father than she does work.

The series was produced by David E. Kelley and Jason Winer . Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar were hired for the central leading roles of the series . For Williams it was the first leading role in a television series since Mork vom Ork , in which he had appeared 31 years earlier, and also his last leading role in a television series. For Gellar it was the first leading role after the series Ringer , which was discontinued after a season by The CW in 2012 .

After the pilot for the series was commissioned by the broadcaster CBS in early February 2013 , James Wolk as Zach Cropper , Hamish Linklater as Andrew Kennedy and Amanda Setton for the role of Lauren Slotsky was hired shortly afterwards . On May 10, 2013, CBS officially ordered the series.

The first episode of the series aired on September 26, 2013 behind a double episode of The Big Bang Theory series. In October 2013, CBS increased the episode count of the series after four episodes aired along with that of The Millers and Mom from 13 to a full season of 22 episodes. The first season finale, which is also the series finale, was shown on April 17, 2014. In May 2014, CBS announced the cancellation of the series after only one season.

Germany

In Germany, the broadcast of the first five episodes could be seen from May 21, 2014 on the station ProSieben , due to low ratings, the broadcast was then canceled after June 11, 2014. From August 11, 2014, the station Sixx , which is also part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, broadcast the series.
