The Delta Saints are a blues rock band from Nashville , Tennessee . You yourself describe your music as " Bourbon- soaked Bayou- Rock " and "Cosmic Voodoo Rock'n'Roll"

history

Ben Ringel

The band was formed in 2007 after the musicians met in college . They started making music as a pure live band with no intention of releasing their music. But word of their qualities got around in the city and so it came to the release of their first independently produced EPs Pray On 2009 and A Bird Called Angola 2010. This was followed by a successful international tour with over 150 concerts a year, which also included an appearance in Rockpalast the WDR included. Stimulated by the associated increase in the popularity of the Delta Saints , the two EPs were released again on a CD in 2011 by the label DixieFrog, which specializes in Roots Rock and Americana , for the European market . A DVD with the recording of her Rockpalast concert followed in 2012.

The band's first actual release in the usual CD length, entitled Death Letter Jubilee , was financed with the help of the crowdfunding company Kickstarter and was released in February 2013. Ben Ringel found the successful financing of the album by the fans as a thoroughly positive experience: “It is an incomparable feeling. It's scary and humbling. It's good pressure to succeed. We were able to take advantage of the pressure and made an effort. "

Reception and style of music

Andreas Schiffman writes on musikreviews.de that the music of the "young men sounds positively old, especially during the singer-songwriter and blues moments ..." . It is a modernized and powerful mixture of Delta Blues , Swamp Rock and Southern Rock , which is supplemented with a dash of funk and gospel . Musically, the band's style is characterized by Ben Ringel's resonator guitar and his occasional slide play , as well as Greg Hommert's singing and harmonica. Their style with its pounding rhythms and rich guitar riffs has been compared to Led Zeppelin , the Allman Brothers or The Black Crowes .
