The Girlfriend Experience is an American television series based on the 2009 film Girlfriend Experience by Steven Soderbergh . Soderbergh is also involved in the series as executive producer, as are Philip Fleishman, Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz. The series' main actress is Riley Keough , the granddaughter of Elvis Presley .
The first season comprises 13 episodes, which premiered on April 10, 2016 on the Starz television station . While the television broadcast took place on a weekly basis, all episodes were made available on starz's own online platform from day one. A second season with a different plot and characters was announced in August 2016 and aired in 2017.
Storyline 1
The young law student Christine Reade comes through an acquaintance to the group of escort girls who offer the so-called girlfriend experience . These are sexual services and accompaniment on occasions, e.g. B. disguised as a friend. The women are paid for this, but in the high-priced range, which distinguishes them from normal prostitutes. Christine demands z. B. 1000 US dollars per hour and can only be booked for two hours or more.
Christine is slowly starting to enjoy the escort service as she is learning to appreciate her financial independence and the power she has over men. At the same time, she has problems at work: she is threatened with dismissal because she has a relationship with her boss. A video also emerges showing her having sex without her knowledge and being sent to Christine's work colleagues and family.
