Paul Sparks

Paul Sparks (born October 16, 1971 in Lawton , Oklahoma ) is an American actor .

Life

Sparks was born and raised in the state of Oklahoma . The son of a football coach and a school teacher, he attended high school in Marlow . He later studied at Oklahoma State University and New York University , where he received his bachelor's degree in acting in 1995 .

Sparks was best known for playing Mickey Doyle in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire . From the third season of the Netflix series House of Cards , he took on the role of the novelist Thomas Yates .
