Amy Lynne Seimetz (born November 25, 1981 in Tampa , Florida ) is an American actress , director , screenwriter and producer.

life and career

Amy Seimetz grew up in the area around the cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg , in the US state of Florida. At the age of 18 she started working as a filmmaker in her home country. After graduating from high school, she briefly attended Florida State University before moving to Los Angeles . Before she was offered her first acting roles, she worked as a waitress, nanny and seamstress, among other things.

Seimetz took on his first acting roles in 2003, initially mainly in short films. In 2006 she played a supporting role in the black-humored road movie Wristcutters: A Love Story . In 2009, the drama Alexander the Last premiered at the South by Southwest Festival, in which she was involved in a supporting role and the script. In the following years she also appeared mainly in independent films. In 2010 she took on the role of Sarah in the horror film A Horrible Way to Die . A year later she appeared again in a horror movie in You're Next . In 2012 she released the film Sun Don't Shine , which she produced, scripted and directed. The shooting took place in her home country Florida. She received the jury award at the 2012 South by Southwest Festival for her work on the film. A year later she was nominated for a Gotham Award for her work on the film Upstream Color . From 2013 to 2014 she starred as Danette Lutz in a leading role in the third and fourth seasons of the crime series The Killing .

In 2016, the series The Girlfriend Experience was published, in which Seimetz played the role of Annabelle Reade in the first season . In addition to the series creator, Steven Soderbergh , she was one of the executive producers on the series. By 2017 she directed a total of 13 episodes and also wrote some screenplays. From 2016 to 2017 she was also seen as Becky Ives in the series Stranger Things . In 2017 she appeared in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant as Maggie Faris in a supporting role and was also seen in the British drama Lean on Pete . In the film drama My Days of Mercy she played the role of Martha Moro . In 2018 she took on a supporting role in the second season of the series Get Shorty . In 2019 she played a central role as Rachel Creed in the horror film Cemetery of the Stuffed Animals

Seimetz was asked to direct the Marvel film Black Widow , but she declined.

Private

Seimetz was in a relationship with Shane Carruth for a while, with whom she starred in the film Upstream Color , which he also directed.
