The Hawaiians are a German pop-punk band from Westerkappeln in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

history

The band was founded in 2001 by Paul Hawaiian (vocals, drums), Beppo Hawaiian (vocals, electric guitar) and Juke Hawaiian (bass, vocals). The music of the Hawaiians can be described as minimalist pop punk in the style of the Ramones , with clear influences of 50's rock'n'roll and 60's surf flowing into it from the start. The lyrics are often about Hawaiian clichés ("Back to Hawaii", "Do the Waikiki", "Hawaiian Fun"), surf culture ("Cherry's on a Wave", "Waikiki Playbat Club"), but also about space adventures ("Hula on Mars", "Bats from Outer Space", "Judy's on the Stars"). Kamikaze Records released three Hawaiian albums, "Teenagers Love" (2002), "Hula on Mars" (2007) and "Invading The Summer" (2020).

Before the recording of the second long player, lead singer and guitarist Beppo Hawaiian left the band and was replaced by Jens Dance Hawaiian on guitar. Paul Hawaiian took over the main vocals and played the drums while standing. Between 2001 and 2009 the Hawaiians played numerous appearances at festivals and in small clubs, among others with The Queers (USA) Groovie Ghoulies (USA), Travoltas (NL) and Boppin'B . In 2009 Paul Hawaiian had to cancel all further band activities for health reasons, which led to the fact that the band was no longer officially active for a long time without ever having broken up. Nonetheless, the individual band members continued to compose new songs, record demos and began recording a new album. In November 2017, the Hawaiians were represented with "Hubble Bubble" (15 years after the song was first published) in the 175th episode of the TV series " Hawaii Five-0 ". In 2018 the band became more active on stage again. Concerts with Richie Ramone (USA), CJ Ramone (USA), the Travoltas (NL / USA), Beatnik Termites (USA) and Masked Intruder followed . At the invitation of the Donots , the Hawaiians played at their 2019 year-end concert.

In 2020 the band released their third album "Invading The Summer" on the Kamikaze Records label, for which Broken Silence was won over.
