criticism

The e-zine Laut.de rated The Heist with four out of a possible five points. From the point of view of the editor Dani Fromm, The Heist is a “reassuringly intelligent, overdue record” which “straightens the crooked image of the genre a little”. Same Love, for example, is an “unmistakable statement against homophobia that is also packaged in a simply wonderful piece of music”. Fromm characterizes Macklemore as a "keen observer" with an "analytical mind". The productions, on the other hand, seem “too synthetic”. In addition, the music lacks the “right punch, force and depth”. However, Lewis' sound has its "very own, nowhere copied aesthetic". The play Bombom is mentioned as "a single dramaturgical masterpiece".
