The Infamous is the second album by the rap duo Mobb Deep from Queensbridge , New York City . It is one of the most influential hip-hop albums of the 1990s and is based on dark melodies, intelligent lyrics and everyday stories from the ghetto . With this album Mobb Deep had their breakthrough and they rose from an unknown group to an underground phenomenon . On June 26, 1995, the album was certified gold by the RIAA .
Every song on The Infamous reflects the downside of New York City , including drug trafficking and the use of firearms. It can be said that The Infamous falls into the typical cliché of hip-hop music. The album is considered a classic in the hip-hop scene and has many fans such as RZA , the producers of the Wu-Tang Clan .
The songs “Temperature's Rising”, “Survival Of The Fittest” and the timeless street anthem “Shook Ones Pt. II "selected. Videos were shot for the last two in which Mobb Deep rap in their "hood".
The New York rappers Nas and Wu-Tang Clan members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are guests on "The Infamous", and they also feel connected to the album. There are other guest appearances from Big Noyd, a good friend of the "Mobbs", Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest and the singer Crystal Johnson.
From The Source 5 Mics were awarded, the highest award in the rap. The album was rated five out of five possible points in the Milestones column of the online magazine laut.de.
