Blood Money is the seventh studio album by the American rap duo Mobb Deep . It was released in May 2006 via G Unit Records .
meaning
In 2005, Mobb Deep was signed by 50 Cent and his label G-Unit Records . Blood Money was the first album for the new label . Many fans initially took the change critically because they feared that Mobb Deep would develop too much towards the mainstream and adapt their sound to the music of the G Unit and thus sell themselves and their “street sound ”.
Features and producers
Most of the album was produced by band member Havoc . However, there were also guest productions by great producers such as Dr. Dre , Jonathan Rotem or The Alchemist . With the exception of Nate Dogg and Mary J. Blige, only rappers from the G Unit are represented as features .
successes
The album reached number three on the Billboard charts and sold around 100,000 copies in the first week. Despite these good results, the album is viewed as a failure in hip-hop circles and the band is accused of being sold out and has only sold just under 500,000 times to date.
particularities
- 50 Cent has a total of seven guest appearances on the album.
- The songs Have a Party and Outta Control are bonus tracks . Both have been published before. The remix of Outta Control comes from 50 cents album The Massacre , where the bonus track Special Edition was used. Have a Party comes from the soundtrack of the movie Get Rich or Die Tryin ' .
