The Irregular at Magic High School - The Girl who Summons the Stars - The Movie ( Japanese 劇場版 魔法 科 高校 の 劣等 生 星 を 呼 ぶ 少女 , Gekijōban Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Hoshi o Yobu Shōjo ) is a Japanese anime film , based on the light novel Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei by Tsutomu Satō . The film was released in Japanese theaters on June 17, 2017. In contrast to the series, the film was not animated by Studio Madhouse , but by Studio Eight Bit .

After Tatsuya and Miyuki's first year of Magic High School came to a successful end, they spend their vacation on the Ogasawara Islands . But suddenly a girl named Kokoa appears. This previously resigned from the National Defense Navy and fled. She tells Miyuki her only wish.
Production and publication
In the production of Studio Eight Bit led Risako Yoshida Director. Munemasa Nakamoto wrote the script based on the template by Tsutomu Satō . The character design comes from Kana Ishida and the artistic direction was Hiromasa Ogura . Satoshi Motoyama directed the sound . The music was composed by Taku Iwasaki .
It was released in Japan on June 17, 2017. On the opening weekend, over 107,000 tickets were sold, making it number 5 on the Japanese cinema charts. There were no cinema screenings in Germany. The film was released on September 20, 2018 as a limited edition FuturePak with J-Card, exclusively in the Anime Planet online shop . The DVD version was limited to 500 copies and the Blu-ray to 1,000. The standard version was released on October 18, 2018.
