James "Jimmy" Christian Kimmel (born November 13, 1967 in New York City ) is an American comedian, author, producer and presenter of talk and game shows.

Life

Jimmy Kimmel's ancestors are of German, Irish and Italian origins. His family moved to Las Vegas when he was nine. He graduated from Ed W. Clark High School and later attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for one year and Arizona State University for two years without graduating.

After starting out in radio shows and as a comedian at Comedy Central , Kimmel began developing his own format after the last show at Comedy Central, The Man Show . Kimmel produces and hosts the late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! at ABC . The show has been broadcast since 2003.

Kimmel and his then fiancée, Gina, married in June 1988. They have a son and a daughter. The marriage ended with divorce in 2002. By the summer of 2008, Kimmel was in a relationship with comedian Sarah Silverman . Since October 2009 he has been with Molly McNearney, who also writes for Jimmy Kimmel Live! is working. After their engagement in August 2012, they married in July 2013. Together they have two children, a daughter (* 2014) and a son (* 2017).

In April 2012 he hosted the traditional White House Correspondents' Association dinner . He has also hosted the Emmy Awards twice (2012, 2016) and hosted the Academy Awards in February 2017 and March 2018 .

In January 2013, Kimmel received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame right in front of his main place of work, the El Capitan Theater (6840 Hollywood Boulevard ).

In the English version of The Boss Baby , Kimmel plays the role of Ted Templeton.
