The Meditations are a Jamaican reggae - vocal ensemble .

history

The formation was formed in the early 1970s by Ansel Cridland (previously with The Righteous Flames ), Danny Clarke (previously with The Linkers ) and Winston Watson. In 1974 they recorded their first hit single Woman is Like a Shadow in the studio of Channel One Records. The debut album was released in 1977. The first two albums were produced by Dobby Dobson. Due to the popularity of the trio, it came to collaboration with Lee "Scratch" Perry . Among other things, they sang in the background for Marley 's Blackman Redemption , Punky Reggae Party and Rastaman Live Up , for Jimmy Cliffs Bongo Man Youths Them A Cry , for Gregory Isaacs ' Mr. Cop and for The Congos on their album Heart of the Congos . The 1988 album For The Good of Man was only produced by Clarke and Watson, as Cridland had left the trio. He returned in the early 1990s. After the reunification, Return of The Meditations was published in 1993 . For the strip The Guru they played the song Running from Jamaica , written by Cridland.

The band toured North America and Europe . All three live in the United States , Clarke in Phoenix, Arizona , Watson in Seattle, and Cridland in New York City.
