The Ragpicker's Dream ( English for: " The dream of the rag collectors ") is the third studio album by Mark Knopfler . It was released in 2002, almost two years to the day after the previous album.
background
It is Knopfler's third solo album. In terms of content, it is a collection of songs written from the point of view of poor but honorable people who try to somehow get by in life and often enjoy small successes in the process. Mark Knopfler doesn't play the acoustic guitar as often as usual on the album. Nevertheless it is characterized by folk throughout. Why Aye Man was the theme song of the third series of Goodbye, Pet . The village of Tow Law in Hill Farmer's Blues is just one of the many references to north-east England.
